A Day in the life of Maddy

From Private Practice to Occupational Rehabilitation

After four years in private practice doing exercise physiology, Maddy was offered the chance to buy the business she worked for but decided that owning a business wasn’t the path for her. Instead, she pivoted into the world of occupational rehabilitation – and “hasn’t looked back” since.

Supporting Clients on Their Recovery Journey

Now a Senior Rehabilitation Consultant at Rehab Management, Maddy spends her days “cruisin’ up and down the coast” to meet with clients and support them on their journey to recovery. Her work is all about helping people get back on track, which involves plenty of collaboration, coordination and conversations. Every case is different, and no two days are ever the same.

Making a Real Difference

Maddy recalls a standout moment when she helped a client who had been experiencing daily pain for months. Despite regular physio sessions, there was no improvement. Through their conversations, Maddy discovered the sessions were short and limited to dry needling, so she arranged a referral to a new physiotherapist.

“Within four weeks, [the client] started having pain-free days for the first time in months.”

Enjoying Flexibility and New Experiences

As well as enjoying the opportunity to help people feel like themselves again, Maddy thrives on the flexibility her role offers, not just in how she works, but in where it takes her. Each day brings the chance to explore a new corner of the region, from coastal communities to tucked-away country towns.

She’s visited places she never would have discovered otherwise, each with its own unique charm and story. Her favourite so far? A delightfully quirky town called Woodenbong, which has firmly earned a spot on her personal map of memorable places.
