- Vocational Counselling: Professional counsellors provide guidance and support, helping individuals explore career options, set realistic goals, and develop action plans.
- Resume Writing and Interview Preparation: Includes assistance with resume writing, cover letter development, and interview preparation, updating resumes, and coaching on interview techniques.

Return to Work (RTW) Services - New Employer
A comprehensive approach to assist clients with physical or psychological injuries in transitioning to new employment following an illness or injury. This service is designed for clients where it has been identified that a same employer goal is not suitable or the pathway to return to work is faster with a new employer goal. The goal is to ensure a safe and sustainable return to work, facilitated by appropriately qualified allied health professionals and specialist employment consultants with expertise in ascertaining and inding suitable employment opportunities for clients.
Who is it for?
This service is ideal for:
- Clients where the return to work goal is to obtain employment with a new employer, needing return to-work planning for physical or psychological injutiries, whether compensation or non compensation.
What it involves:
- Vocational Assessment Including:
- Initial interview: A qualified consultant conducts an initial interview with the worker to understand the injury and work requirements.
- Understanding the injury/illness: Assessing the person’s injury or illness to align vocational goals with their functional capacity
- Identification of suitable employment options: Identifying employment options that align with the person’s functional capacity, transferrable employment skills, prior earnings, and the labour market.
- Job readiness and employment preparation: Preparing the client for new employment through job readiness training and employment preparation activities
- Medical management support: Supporting the medical management of conditions to help the client reach optimal function post-injury and illness
- Employment canvassing: Actively canvassing for suitable employment opportunities and providing support to secure sustainable employment.
- Biopsychosocial approach: Adopting a biopsychosocial approach to support the client, identify barriers to employment, and leverage the client’s strengths to ensure the fastest pathway to employment
- Work-trials and work hardening programs: Implementing work-trials and work hardening programs with a new employer to support the injured person’s recovery. In some instances allow an employer to trial a client prior to making an employment offer.

- Employer Contacts: Engaging with three employer contacts per identified vocational option to gather real-world information on role requirements, functional capacities, potential earnings, role availability, and requisite skills for success.
- Assessment: Evaluating the gathered information against the injured employee’s skills and capacity to determine their current or future suitability for the role.

- Individualised Assessments: Each LMA is completed individually for the client, with potential employer contacts handled confidentially.

Work Trial
A Work Trial places an injured worker with a suitable host employer for a short period when the pre-injury employer cannot provide suitable work. The worker continues to receive weekly payments during the trial and does not receive payment from the host.
Who is it for?
This service is ideal for:
- Injured Workers: Those receiving or entitled to weekly payments under the Workers Compensation Act 1987 with the capacity to work but unable to return to their pre-injury employer.
- Host Employers: Employers with no workers’ compensation liability for the injured worker and a current workers’ compensation policy or self-insurer license.
What it involves:
- Sourcing host employers and conducting workplace assessments.
- Completing necessary documentation and obtaining insurer approval.
- Managing all aspects of the work trial and maintaining regular contact with stakeholders.
- The worker receives training, supervision, and feedback from the host employer.
- Rehab Management oversees the trial, ensuring smooth operation and addressing issues.
- Travel and essential equipment costs are covered by the insurer or SIRA.
- The worker continues to receive weekly payments from the insurer.
After the Work Trial:
- The worker may be considered for vacancies with the host employer.
- If hired, the host employer may receive incentives under the JobCover placement program, including financial incentives and workers’ compensation premium exemptions.
