A day in the life of Alisha
Seven years ago, as a recent graduate from Charles Sturt University and living in regional NSW, Alisha joined the Rehab Management team in one of our first rounds of graduates in our RM Academy. Now in her current role as Assistant Area Manager for Sydney Metro, Alisha found the time to sit down with us for a chat this week as we learned of the passion and purpose she brings to her role.
Alisha discovered her calling in the rehabilitation industry, driven by the desire to help those with injuries. “I chose this industry to have exposure to and assist with various injuries,” Alisha shared. As the Assistant Area Manager, Alisha thrives on creating confidence within her team. “I love creating confidence in the team—they’re a great bunch!” emphasising the camaraderie and support that defines Rehab Management.
A typical day in Alisha’s role involves a balance of addressing both internal and external operational needs. “An average day for me involves triaging new referrals to connect customers with the most suitable rehabilitation consultants,” Alisha explains. The meticulous approach ensures that each customer receives personalised and effective rehabilitation services.
“The RM Academy surpassed all my expectations and if you don’t give it a go you will never know. Being based in regional NSW, the support and friendliness made the remoteness and learning curve so much easier.”
Alisha performs formal and individual check-ins with her team daily. “We have both formal and individual check-ins to assess and address their support needs,” she elaborates. Training sessions are key to the teams’ growth, ensuring that consultants and team leaders are confident in their roles and provide gold-standard service to customers throughout their injury recovery.
Reflecting on a moment that stands out, Alisha recounts a powerful experience with Rehab Management’s Living Well program. “Injuries do not just affect the location of injury. Often injuries need to be looked at more holistically, such as safety in the home or psychological impact,” she shares. Alisha’s dedication to a client in need was evident as she spent time weekly having catch-ups with them. Through this approach, the client’s outlook and overall well-being significantly improved. Though she didn’t return to her previous employment, the client was excited about her future, health, and new role.
Alisha’s story is just one example of how beneficial Rehab Management’s Graduate Academy empowers graduates to make a positive impact in their roles. This approach guarantees long-term success and client care while enhancing the company’s diverse team.
