A Day in the Life of Helen
Firstly, let’s start off by finding out what an average day looks like for you?
I start the day with a brewed pot of tea and sourdough toast and vegemite. I check messages, emails and diary/calendar to prepare myself for the day. Depending on scheduled meetings I will either travel to appointments/assessments or head to the office. Following completion of any appointments or assessments, I will continue to check and send emails/ phone calls to monitor client’s progress throughout the day and review the KPI/prospective reports due to ensure they are always completed on time. I drink multiple glasses of water throughout the day to keep cognitively hydrated and engage in light hearted office banter.
Why did you choose to work in this role?
I chose to work in the rehab industry as I initially supported the unemployed with training and return to work activities and found it very rewarding helping others and promoting independence. The rehab industry offers great diversity and the opportunity to work and support clients from all backgrounds and circumstances.
What do you love most about your role?
The interaction with clients and stakeholders and the ability to make a difference in someone’s quality of life and recovery.
Fun fact about Helen
I have several hidden talents and swam 1 mile a day for many years until the day my first son was born. I am very competitive when playing table tennis, however I kindly let my colleagues win at times so it does not impact their mental health.
