A Day in the Life of Tim
This week we had the pleasure of interviewing our Client Relationship Manager at Rehab Management Tim McKeown. Based in Sydney, Tim thrives on connecting with people and providing tailored solutions to address workplace challenges, from injury management to safety improvements.
A Typical Day in Tim’s Life
Tim’s day begins with a moment of balance, starting with a cup of tea and catching up on emails and meeting preparation while spending precious time with his young daughter before dropping her at day care. Then, it’s onto his Vespa, with a quick coffee stop, and off to the office—or, more often, out into the field to meet with customers. “I thrive on getting out of the office and meeting as many customers as possible,” Tim shares. This hands-on approach allows him to immerse himself in the unique environments of the workplaces he supports, ensuring he truly understands their operations and challenges.
A Dynamic Role: Strategic and Operational Activities
No two days are the same for Tim. His role is a mix of strategic and operational activities. One moment, he’s conducting file reviews to pinpoint service improvement opportunities; the next, he’s collaborating with a team to strategise solutions for complex claims.
Tim might spend part of his day on-site at an employer’s workplace, working alongside consultants to conduct assessments, or leading training sessions on workers’ compensation. “The variety in my role keeps things exciting. Whether it’s strategising claims or delivering training, I enjoy the challenge of tailoring our services to meet our customers’ needs.”
One of the most rewarding aspects of Tim’s job is aligning Rehab Management’s interventions with the specific needs of employers. He finds it fulfilling to “minimise the impact and disruption” that injury and return-to-work challenges can pose to businesses.
This problem-solving element of his role ensures Tim stays deeply engaged, whether he’s analysing performance reports or crafting bespoke solutions to address customer pain points.
Passion for Impact: Guiding and Supporting
Reflecting on his journey in occupational rehabilitation, Tim recalls a standout experience that reinforced why he loves his work. As a consultant, he once supported a construction worker who had sustained a serious back injury. Faced with the recommendation to leave his physically demanding role, the worker was disheartened, unable to envision a future outside his trade.
Tim coordinated with the employer to trial the worker in an assistant project manager role. “He excelled in the position, and the employer offered him a permanent role,” Tim recalls. The opportunity not only kept the worker within the industry he loved but also demonstrated how effective collaboration can create meaningful outcomes.
Tim’s passion for helping businesses and individuals navigate complex challenges underscores every interaction he has. Whether he’s guiding an injured worker back to employment or supporting customers to build safer, more productive workplaces, his dedication to making a tangible impact shines through every aspect of his day.
