Mental Health Month Webinar Series
During the month of October, we celebrate Mental Health Month and raise awareness towards the mental health issues that many people face each day.
To begin the conversation, the Arriba Group hosted a series of webinars throughout Mental Health Month, where our guest speakers discussed all things mental health. We invited individuals to come along and listen to others personal stories and experiences, to gain an insight into strategies on how to cope with mental health issues.
These webinars were hosted by several experts in the field across the weeks of October, our webinar series included:
1. Burnout and Compassion Fatigue – Deborah Shand, National Psychological Services Manager.
Despite technology (or perhaps because of it), our lives seem to be busier than ever, and we are less connected to other people. Many of us feel stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed.
Burnout and compassion fatigue are experiences that seem to be occurring more frequently across a wide range of people. Both experiences can happen to anyone, and often people don’t realise they’re an issue for them until they are completely overwhelmed by exhaustion.
This presentation will discuss these two topics, including ways to prevent burnout and compassion fatigue, and what to do if you develop either of them.
2. Don’t get Emotional: How to turn Frustration into Fuel – Maggie Lichaa, Executive Coach & Human Connection Specialist.
The way we feel impacts everything we do – or don’t do. Our emotional and mental health has a ripple effect on everything – because whatever happens in our brains, happens in our bodies, happens in our business, happens in our relationships and the list goes on…
That is why regulating emotions and clearing that mental clutter is key to leading your life with courage and confidence. Maggie Lichaa reveals the most effective strategies to help you regain control of your emotions, access your inner wisdom, and thrive in purposeful ways.
3. Looking After Yourself: Psychological Health & Wellbeing – Adam Dean, Acting Client Relations Manager, Rehab Management.
Your mental health and wellbeing are just as important as your physical health. Positive mental health and wellbeing enables you to function well, have meaningful social connections, increase positive self-esteem, and be better able to cope with life’s ups and downs.
Keeping our mind healthy is an important part of our overall health and wellbeing – but how do we make sure to look after ourselves psychologically?
In this presentation the discussion covers early identification of negative mental health cycles and negative thought patterns, how to check in with yourself to assess your current mental wellbeing, positive ways to manage stress and psychological distress, and finally, how to know when you should ask for assistance.
4. Bouncing Back & Building Resilience – Anastasia Hadjiedemetri, National New Employer Services Manager, Rehab Management.
Anastasia spoke about the impact stress and uncertainty can have on us feeling overwhelmed and performing at our best.
This workshop will provide a toolkit of practical daily disciplines and strategies to keep you focused and cultivate a positive/growth mindset to reach your full potential – in your relationships, in life and at work.
5. Chronic Pain: Who gets stuck and how to help them – Tony Merritt, Clinical Psychologist, Sydney Clinical Psychology.
In our final webinar, Tony discusses a multidisciplinary approach to treating chronic pain. There is strong evidence supporting multidisciplinary treatment of chronic pain using the biopsychosocial model. Many people benefit but a significant number do not.
The research provides good guidance for how to identify people who will benefit and the factors that may cause them to get stuck. Understanding these factors can help to achieve markedly better outcomes for people with chronic pain, and to design programs for people less well suited to standard approaches.
The webinars were viewed live by over 275 people with many more viewing the recording after. The series received overwhelmingly positive feedback. You can access the webinar recordings below.
