Commemorating Remembrance Day Safely

On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minutes’ silence is observed and dedicated to those soldiers who passed away protecting Australia. Remembrance Day, once called Armistice Day, commemorates the loss of Australian lives from all wars and conflicts.

With many states and territories experiencing COVID-19 restrictions, our team is honouring Remembrance Day within our local areas to ensure the safety of others. For our clients, families, and community members we work with, there are many ways that you can also commemorate Remembrance Day, whether in the community or at home.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has also developed an online Remembrance Day kitbag to assist with commemorations. The Remembrance Day kitbag includes information on how to hold a commemorative service, including appropriate music, a speech for use at a service, a short history of Remembrance Day, and a suggested order of service for private/small groups. The kitbag can be downloaded here: https://anzacportal.dva.gov.au/resources/remembrance-day-kitbag
