Proud Member of the Climate and Health Alliance (CAHA)
Arriba Group (family of companies including Rehab Management) is proud to be a member of the Climate and Health Alliance (CAHA). CAHA’s members are organisations in the health care sector that support CAHA’s Vision and work together as a coalition and community of practice to create a powerful health sector movement for climate action and sustainable healthcare.
Climate change has been described as the biggest public health threat of the 21st century and is already responsible for a rising death toll and the spread of illness around the world.
In 2021, CAHA conducted a survey to understand how health professionals across Australia currently engage in the topic of climate change and health in their workplace and communities.
Key findings:
- 72% of respondents agree that climate change is already having a moderate to great impact on public health in Australia.
- 57% of respondents reported climate change is already impacting health services and infrastructure.
- More than four in five respondents across all professions expected climate-related health conditions to become more common over the next 10 years.
- 80% agree the health sector should lead the way on climate action to keep global temperature rise under 2°C.
What’s next?
Using the insights from this survey, CAHA is working with partner organisations, knowledge partners and experts to address the key implications of the report.
As trusted voices within the community, health professionals have an opportunity to communicate the health impacts of climate change to their patients, clients and communities, as well as advocate for governments and their own organisations to take climate action.
At the Arriba Group, we are committed to adopting necessary measures in our day-to-day work practices which aim to minimise our impact on the environment and reduce risk to the health, safety and welfare of employees, clients, suppliers, the wider public and anyone else who may be affected by our business operations.
